Letter from Jason Bosworth to the National Gulf War Veterans & Families Association on winning recognition that his illnesses are due to Gulf War Syndrome
Finally after many letters back and forth my case has been considered and two of my accepted conditions (listed below) are now covered under the umbrella of Gulf War Syndrome:
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Acute Vaccination Reaction
This would indicate that the Veterans Agency Policy Department have finally given guidance to The Veterans Agency on how to deal with cases regarding Gulf War Syndrome claims.
As expected my claim for Gulf War Syndrome was rejected as the Veterans Agency state that GWS is not recognised as a discrete diagnosable medical condition (no shocks there then)!
Although the acceptance of my conditions under the umbrella of GWS does not affect the assessment of my accepted conditions (no increase in assessment) I am totally chuffed that after a long battle with the Veterans Agency that they have finally put in black and white that my conditions that are accepted as attributable to my service are causally linked to my service in the 1st Gulf War.
In other words my Gulf War Service made me ill.
I knew that all along, but the Veterans Agency have finally accepted this.
Please get the word out to all Veterans that I have been successful with my claim without the need to go to appeal and without the need to attend the high court in order that other veterans can either push forward with their current claims or apply to have their accepted conditions put under the umbrella of Gulf War Syndrome.
I know that as I did, many Veterans find the appeals process a daunting prospect, but hopefully Veterans will no longer need to go through this.
