Motion in support of Bradley Manning
No Debt Committee (Italy), 17 December 2011

The No Debt Committee is opposed to military spending not only in Italy but also internationally. The U.S. military budget is over a trillion dollars a year, more than half of the military budgets of all other countries combined.

Yesterday, December 16 saw the beginning of the preliminary hearing for a possible court martial Bradley Manning, a gay U.S. soldier accused of passing to WikiLeaks hundreds of thousands of files, which reveal the war crimes committed by the U.S. in wars conducted with military and financial support of coalitions of which Italy is part . If found guilty of "helping the enemy", the main charge, Bradley Manning could be sentenced to life imprisonment or the death penalty. If Bradley Manning is the person who revealed these war crimes, his action is a fundamental attack on military spending on behalf of us all and must be supported by all of us.

Today, December 17 Bradley Manning turns 24 years now and has been declared an International Day of Struggle by Bradley Manning Support Network with shares (so far) in Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Iceland, India, United Kingdom and the United States. Our support is even more important now that the House of Representatives in the United States voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes the indefinite detention of anyone anywhere by the military without any charge or process - in other words concentration camps of Guantanamo and Begram is present wherever the U.S. military.

The No Debt Committee endorses the International Day of Action and Solidarity and sends support to Bradley Manning and His millions of supporters worldwide joins.

The Committee supports the No Debt International Day of Struggle and sends solidarity and support for Bradley Manning, joining the millions of supporters around the world.
